Grade this uncirculated buffalo nikel

Grade the obverse of this ms66 1913 type one buffalo nickel yourself. Anyone agree with this as a 66? ( Sorry I misspelled nickel in the title.)

    Not seeing a 66

I was thinking ms63 myself. makes me wonder if someone sneezed on this piece during the grading process. Or perhaps mishandled it?
Anyway something went wrong during the grading process. How about an out and out clerical error, where the person creating the
insert just made a mistake. Bet the submitter must have been surprised and pleased.

I saw a 64 T1 in a rattler holder this weekend that looked better than this one...

Classic weak strike MS63 to me. But I grade old school.

@! A very nice coin with tons of flash and luster! There are no noted marks or hits of any kind! This coin has tons of eye appeal with great surfaces! A very beautiful coin! It is original with some light golden toning, and a strong strike. ....... and Gem Coin in every way! This coin would make a welcome addition to a high grade set."

(above comments went for the listing for this coin on fleabay.)

Guess this just goes to show the overall vageries of the 11 point mint state grading system

My Guess is this is a nickel that was dipped prior to grading, probably looked fantastic, but wasn't neutralized properly and turned in the holder. Alternatively if it resides in a rattler holder, its possible some water got inside.

Coins like this are a bit disturbing - I mean one tends to lose just a bit of faith in the graders with such as this getting through. I had one graded "58" that looked better to all I showed, not just me.

You guys are being too hard on this coin. Maybe not everyone's 66, but 63? Ouch.

No way a 66. It's ugly as all hell too.

Yup it's a woof for sure. And my opinion 63 would be a gift.

    That's a soft strike for a 1913. If I saw it raw, I'd give it a 63.

    64, shot 65...

I would have figured 65, with a shot to 66 as it's clean enough. Would like more blast for a 66 but it looks gem to me. Maybe those green spots showed up after it was last graded.

On a rough day at the TPG maybe it comes back 63, 64. On a good day 65, 66.
