Bought a collection yesterday. Great fun and great history.

A customer has decided to clear out his coin collection one lot at a time, this lot included a Type set and Lincoln Cent Set. His father was a coin dealer in the 60's upto the late 90's and many of these coins were picked up from dad so there was a slight sentimental value to the collection.

Before we had finished I was taking down his information and making out the check and I realized that last name sounded familiar. In back I had a coin his father had submitted to ANA/ANACS in 1974 for variety attribution. The letter/images and handwritten notes from the ANA are still with the coin. The owner of this shop thinks he had bought it back in the early 90's .

My customer teared up a bit when I brought it out to him and thanked me for bringing back good memories of him and his father collecting together. He actually remembers finding the coin and having his dad send it in for him.

Some days it is so much fun to be in this industry.

    They are Wayte Raymond albums.

The 1794 cent looks interesting. It might be the star of the collection.

The 1909 S VDB is MS65+ or so details, it had been cleaned way back and very lightly. Even with that the coin is still a stunner.

I've been a fan of the Wayte Raymond albums ever since I saw one filled with gem Indian and Wheat cents at Stacks in NYC in the early 1990s. I hope you are able to place that set with someone intact, I know I would love to have a type set just like that one, albmu and all.

due the the value of some of the better coins in the album, I dont have any one person on my buy list who wants it. I made a few calls on that already. Most of the set will be broken up as individual coins and sold to customers. The album, Im not quite sure if I want it for myself or to offer to a customer who collects old albums.

    Wow -

The style of the Photo Cert is Conder101'a ANACS1. There should be (applied via a rubber stamp) some text, a date and signature on the reverse. I've never seen the separate note you have when the coin was returned separately ahead of the photo. That probably was common practice, people just didn't keep it when the certificate was delivered.

The Anacs photo certificate like that is cool. All of mine have the coin info and grade typed on them.

I didnt want to image the back side of the image, so as to keep my sellers identity private.

The back of the photo describes the coin info, date and signature of the authenticator and an area of change of ownership information.

I cant quite make out the name of the ANA authenticator, Charles Ho or Ko

    Agree.

It's nice to have a complete album of naked coins. Very enjoyable to look at.

From a buyers point of view, It's hard not to break them apart, especially with the early coins in the OP's set.

    Really cool set of coins!

Why does the 1891-S silver dollar shown look different from the (reversed) image shown? They don't appear to be the same coin.

Why are the ANA Certification Service photos of the 1891-S Morgan mirror images ?

By my observation, the features are all reversed in the photos. image

Very nice set! Possible inspiration for the Dansco 7070? With a few of the "first" types left out for complete-ability. Some of those early pieces are still very rough on the walllet.
