Change in 24k Buffalo bullion packaging

Heads up for those who do the .9999 Buffalo bullion. Mintnewsblog.com is reporting the mint has announced they're changing their packaging from individually wrapped coins in sheets of 20 to tubes, like the ASE and AGE. (ASE montster boxes are green, AGE are red, the Buffs will be orange.)

U.S. Mint Updates Packaging for Gold Buffalo Bullion Coins

Given the softness of the buffs, will we be seeing a lot more contact marks on the bullion buffs?

Okay, okay, I get it, it's bullion. image (I admit, I chuckle when someone buys a ATB 5oz bullion piece and complains about contact marks...)

Seems contact marks will be the norm this way.... while it is bullion, people still look for high grades and slab them. Cheers, RickO

Oh course contact Mark's will be an issue with .9999 as it is so soft!

Not a good idea for such large heavy 24K coins. There will be bag marks galore when the reeded edge hit the face of the adjacent coin as they are removed and replaced in the tube. Whoever decided to make this change is probably not a coin collector and is only concerned with saving a few dollars. Unbelievable.image

Any word on when this transition will take place. I believe they have already sent 2016 dated Buffalo's out in the old packaging.
