There was a recent thread about Camp David Counterstamps, where I said these were hard to find. I went to check ebay to see if there were any recently completed auctions, and found this BIN for 25.00. It's probably a pretty small collector base, but I was happy to get it.
Two or three more to go for a complete set. I still need the bicentaler, the penny, and the new pope visit.

I have one of those bicentennial 1976 Lincoln cents counterstamped with the Liberty Bell and 1776 -- stashed away somewhere . . . . .
I think you got a great deal

It's hard to tell from the pix, but it appears to be a proof.
U.S. Type Set
Lived in Texas for 40 years and never heard of Turkey TX.
It's a town of about 400 people near Amarillo and Lubbock. That's probably why you haven't heard of it.
Mel has been doing these counter stamped coins for several decades now. I have only seen a few of them and yours was not one of them. I like yours very much.
My first foray into these were by way of his 1979 Pope John Paul II counterstamps.
I did get the Pope Francis Kennedy halves earlier this year.

You got a GREAT DEAL. Mine was considerably more from Mr. Wacks himself. (#011)
BTW, these had a targeted Edition of 500 coins but Mr. Wacks records indicate that only 200 were actually produced. Each one sold has a serial number on the reverse with your's being #325.
I don't understand how only 200 were produces (according to a catalog produced by Mel Wacks) with a serial number of 325??
What about the Einstein? You need the Einstein?
The name is LEE!
I like it!

But............it's not a Mel Wacks. There is a difference to collectors of Mel's coins.

I don't know about that either. One would think at least 325 sets were made?
I don't think I'm aware of the Einstein counterstamp. Is it relatively new.

Did not say it was . . . it was counterstamped though. Paid a buck for it when I was a kid -- probably worth 50 cents today
