Mac users who photograph coins....what photo software do you use?

Does anyone use anything that is open source?

For what part? I use a combo of Nikon Camera Control Pro, Photoshop, and iPhoto.

Snapseed on the ipad is good. I use that or photoshop on my other setups. Not much of a coin photographer though, so take that for what you will.

I don't use mac but IMO Lightroom is fantastic for photo editing, powerful, easy to use, supports tethering, and you can try a trial version, it goes on sale from time to time

How do you resize on iPhoto?

Under iPhoto save there are sizes and quality grades that are allowed.
If you stick with either small; medium; large, you get pre-set sizes that later don't need to be sized again to match other photos.
The last option, full-size would then need to be.

Photobucket also allows for the resizing of the photos under their edit software.

Adobe Lightroom is my wife's favorite for large batch editing (she's a professional portrait photographer). She can resize thousands of pictures with one click. Color levels, vignetting, and all other sorts of fancy stuff can be done with the same ease.

It works in tandem with Photoshop, which is what she uses for major retouching and individual photo edits.

Photoshop can't be made to batch process??

I use Photoshop CS6.

All the pics in my sig link have been done through it.

GIMP is an open source program that is very similar to Photoshop.

If you know the photoshop interface, you can figure out GIMP fairly easily.

Since the OP asked about open-source software, I thought I'd mention that I use GIMP. It's pretty darn good, especially considering the price ($0.00), but if you haven't worked much with similar software, it might be a little hard to learn.
