Heritage Auctions poor shipping

I received a coin that had a lot of physical damage to the PCGS holder. It was shipped in a large envelope, without padding. I expect more for such a high shipping and handling charge. Has anyone had success getting a partial refund for damaged coins as a result of shipping?

I have received a good number of packages from Heritage. All that I got had three layers of protection. Give them a call on Monday.

I agree with golden. I never had a problem with poor packaging from HA. Very unlike them.

Shoot pics and contact them. I'd be surprised if Heritage dismissed it.

Was it a low-value item? Call them. I’m sure they’ll make it right.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not at all a fan of partial refunds. It often leads to drama without really resolving the issue. Get a full refund and send the item back or accept another remedy (free reholder with shipping maybe).

I always had to sign for my HA packages up until my last one.
$1200 (2 coins) in a USPS flat folded envelope and shoved into my mail slot without any kind of warning, but they arrived okee dokee.

Pretty common. Slabbed coins in corrugated cardboard is usually sufficient. Sounds like something unusual happened.

They charge $8 for shipping for most modest value Coins. That isn't "high", it's simply the cost for priority shipping, especially with insurance set asides.

Most modest value coins come from them in cardboard inside of cardboard which is USUALLY - though maybe not here - sufficient.

They will always make good on damage if it happens. Solid company.

Never in over twenty years and many coins purchased had that kind of problem. Coins were always shipped in great packing.

I wish the folks in shipping and receiving would stop treating them like bricks and more like picture frames.
