Minor Varieties - Not listed as such in PCGS Cert Verification or CoinFacts

I have a couple of coins at PCGS, two have received variety attribution and one...the usual coin number (not certification number) per PCGS. This has happened in the past, only to have received a "V" in front of the coin number and "Minor Variety" added to the description. I realize that there can be several varieties not listed in the CherryPickers guide or other reference material for coin numbers, but why not list it as "V9372" for my 1936-D 50C San Diego QDO (but no RPM, which would have been identified as FS-101) Minor Variety?
