USPS Rate Increase Set for January 17, 2016
The USPS is set to raise rates pretty much across the board beginning next week. While past increases have been a few cents here or there (at most), the increases here are quite significant.
A few of the key takeaways from my coin-related perspective:
-First Class packages now have a common rate for up to 8oz, and First Class is available below 16oz (previously 13). After a big jump above 8oz, the per-ounce increase is just 5 cents.
-Click 'N Ship on the USPS website will now be charging the retail, not discounted commercial, rates. I'm not sure how eBay/PayPal shipping will be affected.
-Priority Mail Express flat rate boxes are gone.
-For international shippers, rates are really going up for First Class and Express, but on the First Class front, there are many fewer weight buckets, so a lot more variability will be possible within a given postage rate.
Other than the fact that rates are going up, the single rate up to 8oz will be convenient, as the vast majority of my shipments fall in that weight, and it'll be that much less time I spend weighing packages. My international buyers will not be pleased, but they've gotten hit with serious increases quite a few times recently.

Well damn. I mostly ship express, and with the price increase combined with the lack of the online discount, it looks like I'll be using fedex overnight instead. My insurance likes that better anyways, and they're more reliable than USPS.
The priority flat rates have never been cheaper for coins, even when sending dozens of coins to CAC, it was cheaper to pay by weight.
Box of 20
Those increases are ridiculous. 10-11% for Priority International, 21% for first class international, ! It is cheaper to use UPS at this point.
It's almost a guarantee that UPS & FEDEX will be upping their rates also.
money wise so why not increase rates and get rid of some services
i have coins for sake at link below (scared of links? get over it)

UPS and Fedex have issued increases of almost 5% to already price gouging
retail cost and fees.

It's just the cost of doing business. When they start losing my packages (they have never failed me) then I'll ***** about the government. Til then it's the best deal going.
Now insurance rates through the USPS, one can do better if they search around I'm told.
The rate increases may be somewhat exorbitant, however, remember it is the federal government, so undoubtedly they're doing it "for the children." Take comfort in that.

Oh Crap! There go my Final Value Fee's on Shipping!

We have, after all, been given really cheap rides over the past 15 years or so not to mention their problems in trying to compete with FedEx, UPS, and a host of other overnight services who have much higher rates.
It's tough going from a monopoly to just one of the guys!
Personally, I'd like to see them charge "standard rates" for all the bulk crap I end up throwing in the garbage since a person can only be approved for so many $40,000 lines of credit!

I guess this mean I will ship many more express with my corporate account. I prefer to use click and ship, but oh well.
Yup even the po box fees just went up at my local post office
Here too, of course.....Jeepers, for my little PO Box, I'm paying $156.00 per year. My lips, that's almost 50 cents a day !!
For that kind of money, I can get a safe deposit box big enough to park my car in. Needless to say, I drive an MG Midget.
In today's world, I suppose it's no surprise that rates are increasing. They used to offer up the price of oil as an excuse, "It cost's us more to fill our trucks with gas". Not at 31.00 dollars a barrel it doesn't......Well ,they don't even bother to explain anymore. I think we'll just have to expect to pay more and more for everything until we die.......
The consumer always pays.

It looks like they fixed that glitch. I just dropped off a 14 oz. non-eBay package and was charge full priority mail rate. Could be this is only for Commercial Base Pricing, but PayPal's shipping tool still has a 13 oz. limit.
Bought a bunch of old, unused postage today to decorate future packages.
