Pogue Masterpieces of US Coinage Part III

I receive the catalog today. It's 333 pages and 3 1/2 lbs.

Lots of great pictures. This catalog is a keeper

Do you weigh all of your catalogs, or just the ones you're considering keeping? Just curious. image

I put the shelf up myself, so if you get 7-8 pounds up there, the whole thing may come crashing down.

They used heavy paper stock and I was surprised at the weight.

They used the wrong blue color too.
They should have used light blue.

Is it safe to say that this catalog was worth the weight?

Wow... that publication certainly is worthy of the term 'tome'....Cheers, RickO

    Where there's a will, there's a weigh.

Now if I could just buy ONE coin out of that collection…It would be less than an ounce of gold for about the cost of a hundred ounces.

I wish I could get all the Pogue catalogs, I'm just waiting for Stacks to post all the coins to their special website for the Pogue collection. I wonder when that will be?

The librarian part of me is asking if I need to record a catalog's weight as part of the bibliographic information. After all, we already weigh coins image

Collectors Universe could start an auction catalog slabbing service including all such info on the insert. But who ever heard of a crazy thing like grading and encapsulating a publication which would make it unavailable to read. Oh wait ...
