When I saw the QE below in hand at FUN a few years back I did not hesitate (like 3 seconds) and did not ask for the price. It had everything going for it, rich surfaces, rare D mint variety, and looked right. I just said 'this is mine'. After committing to buy and writing the check, the dealer asked me if I wanted it to be sent into CAC which he was happy to do as I was not a member yet. It meant I could not take it home with me, but we both wanted to see what would happen. I thought it was strong for the grade but we were both happy with the result. I need to work on my gold bean image.
When you receive the gold bean, they give you a nice little card to go with it. As of today, 32 liberty quarter eagles have received the gold bean, only 3 with D mint marks, and 9 total with any mint mark at all. 4707 liberty quarter eagles have received the green bean. This attests to how often the TPG's undergrade this series - you guessed it, not darn often......

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

By the way, Akers said he never saw a "strictly uncirculated" example of this issue.

My question is "why didn't the seller send it in before listing it for sale?" It could have brought a stronger price for him/her...but so much the better for you!

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Makes me wonder if the Gold bean has another meaning, like, 'yes, we would really really like to purchase/own this coin'. There is noticeable wear all over the 1841-D, I believe it has been accurately graded or it's 5 points over.

Here is a point of comparison:

Great looking coin! Congrats!
I am afraid to ask but what is your icon supposed to be?

Grading is subjective and ultimately an opinion...but, I'd say our opinions on this coin vary by a wide margin.
I personally would grade this coin a solid AU-55 (with tremendous eye appeal)...look at the detail in the feathers around the shield on the reverse and in Liberty's curls on the obverse. Regardless of what the grade on the holder says, it's a beautiful coin (again, in my opinion
