I know that the 1911 Canadian coinage is "godless", but I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of the reason "D. G." or "DEI GRA(TIA)" was omitted. Does anyone have an explanation?

I had never noticed that before. All it says in the Charlton book on Canadian coins......is that on the new obverse the "DEI GRA" was omitted and was publicly criticized and thus was reinstated for the next year of 1912.
I wonder if there is a chance for a variety here. A 1911 with or a 1912 without "DEI GRA". Wouldn't that be neat!
