Shilling to set a Reserve?

BroadstruckBroadstruck Posts: 30,497 ✭✭✭✭✭
The exact amount I just had to beat was what it sold for raw last year before being encapsulated.

So I feel I just had to beat a shill bid which was set as a reserve on a no reserve auction?

    Could be.
But coins sell for more and less each time they are listed. The seller is out eBay fees - unless the shill doesn't pay and it shows up relisted.

Same low feedback bidder is the high on the only 2 items the seller has listed which condition wise are at two drastically different collector levels.

Shill bidding is really hard to prove given all of the "secrecy" in hiding eBay bidder names, etc.

I have seen bidders with hundreds of bids on items from a single dealer, 100% of their bids, and still eBay refuses to recognize this as shill bidding.

Bid the max you are willing to pay, and let the rest take care of itself.

Sorry to say but I felt uncomfortable, retracted my bid, and let the other guy win it image

Then at 4:00 AM this morning it was re-listed for over $100.00 more "buy it now" with "make an offer" so my shill theory was correct.
