There is some debate as to the origin of the "No BP" notes.

Was it an obstruction, Bad plate or post BEP alteration.

I Have one that I bought raw (Now 63) that was unattributed si I cant give you the premium.

I think PCGS does not consider it a variety in their registry, so that keeps the price lower than it might be.

Craig, there is on average about a 50% Premium on the NO BP notes.

Example, a GEM66 BP note runs about $250.00 or so. The NO BP GEM66 note runs about $400-$500

I gotta disagree with that. A 64epq is about a $500 note. One just sold at FUN for $517. A 66epq is at least an $800-$1000 note if you can even find one. PMG has only graded two in 66. I have one and you have the other and we aren't selling. Where is anyone going to find one for $400-$500? Show me one for $400 or $500 I'll buy it all day long!

Larry, they are "NOT" that tough and you know very well I have the census on these. I don't care about the FUN results, they are the abnormally high.

I still have (3) other GEM-CU NO BP notes (RAW) that would 65/66 and I would sell them for $500.00 or so all day long if I wanted too.

They are out there, you just have to be willing to look for them is all.

And "NO", you can not have my other (3) notes to resell.

  • Hi all

I just won this - and from looking in Schwartz Lindquist, it looks like the 1928 DA block is pretty rare. Firstly, am I right in reading that ? And then, any idea of value on this ?

Congrats DanCong, that is a great note! Depending on what the back of the note looks like, I would put the value at around $350. I just picked up a CU D-A Block at FUN that I need to pull an image of.

They are not that tough in 63/64 grades but they are very tough to find in certified legit 66Q grades. I've owned 6 CU's myself and have seen a number of them in my 25+ years of collecting. Most of them have average centering in the 63-65 range. Nobody is going to find 66's on the market for $400-$500 unless on a fluke of luck. I believe you are way off on your estimate and could see them going for north of $1000 at auction. The three 64's that have sold on heritage all went north of $500 and one north of $600. A 66 should bring far more interest. I guess we won't know for sure until one hits the market.

    Here is another.

Edit to add: on the 1928B note (first one in the thread) I noticed it is a minor cutting error. The bottom is cut into the frame, and at the top, the adjacent note's frame is party visible.

1928B $5 USN E00000001A was printed in late August 1937. The last delivered note for that year was E16640000A, so the note above was printed most likely in early December 1937.
