-- On Hold -- Here's a nice AU example of the rarest Charlotte QE in the series. Less than 3,000 estimated coined of the Small Date, along with another 23,000+ of the Large Date variety later that year. NGC grades the coin as AU-53, but I think it's a solid AU-50 that NGC bumped up due to its nice coloration & surfaces. All 1843-C SD QEs come with the "crosslet" 4 in the date, with most displaying a short diagnostic die break from the rim to the lower left point of Liberty's profile. These coins don't cross the auction blocks in this grade very frequently, even in AU-50, the most recent Heritage results date back to 2009.
