For Those Who Appreciate Gold Nuggets ... Check out Stacks Bowers' Weekly Sales All Throughout The

I believe there are about a half dozen lots this week in the sale with the reserves not too far off from near "melt". These are a consignment to me that I sent over to Stacks. My consignor tells me most of the nuggets are from an Austrailian Mine although I can not personally verify that information. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions concerning the nuggets!

Isn't there a rather steep 'buyer's premium' at this site? And that would affect the 'near melt' aspect quite a bit. As would the actual gold purity. And then there at least 3 parties making money on these: you, your consignor, and the auction house. Seems like a lot of overhead that the buyer is paying for.
Why not just put them on the BST?
Many, many perfect transactions with other members. Ask please.

RGJohn. The buyers fee is the same as most major auction houses. If it is "steep", then it steep nearly everywhere. As for your comment about three people making money... First, I may be giving my consignor virtually the entire hammer price realized in the auction. So, cross me out. Second, whether the owner is making money or losing money on the consignment is not even relevant. Third, the buyers fee is standard as discussed above.

I gave heads up on an unusual item being offered by SB this month. If they interest you then great. If they do not, that is no problem either. And, yes, if a reserve is close to melt, then the entire cost of an opening bid would be about 20% over melt (and also most nuggets are not pure gold so that needs to be taken into account as well). More importantly, if I discover these nuggets are not worth any more than the gold within them, then if they fail to sell I might suggest to the owner melting them into a gold bar. I would hate doing that, but we will all learn soon enough what small gold nuggets might be worth in this market.

The BST board is a great venue for offering things... I agree with you. And, to buy things as I have for years with board members.

I can not respond here more than 1x a day, so feel free to PM me (anyone) to discuss these nuggets further. That may be the best way to discuss them.

Those are cool nuggets, but without any provenance or origin they are little more than unmarked bullion.
