Additionally, at this time I am also offering an advanced notice email option whereby you may receive descriptions and prices of all new purchases after each major show or, in the event that a larger purchase is made between shows, as soon as I have a nice group of coins. Simply send me a PM with your email address or send an email requesting to be placed on the advanced notice list. I will not hammer you with emails or a sales pitch; only the occasional update to my site. Lastly, if you would like to read more frequent updates as to my business, you may want to follow or "like" me on Facebook.

1) 1832 Classic Head Half-Cent NGC AU55BN/CAC

image

Here is a piece of early copper with scrupulously original surfaces that have fortunately retained all manner of dirt, debris, skin and crud. The coin has lots of meat and a beautiful, even deep brown color throughout. The 1832-1835 issues are much more common than some other dates and this makes their acquisition fairly simple, though they do not typically come this nice and they often fail the CAC evaluation process. $245.00

2) 1892 Barber Dime PCGS MS65/CAC

Most folks know I attempt to carry a varied assortment of Barber and Seated coinage and this can be a difficult quest when so many of these coins are aesthetically challenged. Thankfully, there is the occasional true, unadulterated gem that crosses my path and these coins are purchased immediately and enthusiastically. Such is the case with this 1892 Barber dime. The date itself is fairly generic given that this was the first year of production of Barber coinage, but the preservation and eye appeal of this particular coin is off the charts. The coin has primarily white centers with sparkling, vibrant and gloriously alive shades of blue toning surrounding the inner design elements. This is truly a case of a generic coin possessing rare eye appeal. Recent auction records are all over the place for this issue, which reflects the variable nature of the quality purchased within the grade. Low end pieces that should be run away from hover around $500 while superb coins rise to over $900, but this one will not be pushed to its limits with respect to price. $825.00

3) 1906-O Barber Dime NGC MS67+*/CAC Eric P. Newman Collection

image

A small run of O-mint Barber dimes came out of the Newman collection and these coins were spectacular. Their sales prices reflected the quality, too, as they sold for far more than might be expected. This is one of the coins from that small group and it is a jewel. $12,500.00

4) 1914-S Barber Dime PCGS MS66/CAC OGH Eliasberg

image

Both sides of this coin are a light champagne, though the reverse has a steely hue to it, too. The coin is also a flat-out gem with superb luster, good cartwheel and a very nice strike. There are also the remnants of die polish lines throughout the obverse fields. This coin is still in the OGH with the very desirable Eliasberg pedigree noted on the slab. $3,000.00

5) 1914 George V Canadian Dime PCGS MS66

image

Even though I do not carry it often, I absolutely adore Canadian coinage and think that these pieces represent great value. This George V dime has intense, stunning toning that is quite rare for the series and contributes mightily to the fabulous eye appeal. $3,975.00

6) 1837 Reeded Edge Half Dollar PCGS EF40

image

If there is a wonderful Reeded Edge half dollar out there, then I want to handle it. I love this series and attempt to keep a good stock of quality issues on my site. This is the GR-17 die pair and it is a common pair. The reverse of this coin is rotated perhaps 10-degrees with respect to the obverse. ON HOLD

7) 1840 Seated Liberty Half Dollar Reverse of 1839 PCGS VF30

image

I love buying perfect circulated coins and this coin pretty much fits that description. The surfaces are an even, deep brown with little in the way of impairment. The price of this issue is also rather low and is indicative of all the not-so-nice coins out there that weigh down the published value. This coin is truly choice and should delight those who love original coinage with good eye appeal. ON HOLD

8) 1899 Barber Half Dollar PCGS MS63/CAC

image

The 1899 Barber half dollar is a nice coin for folks to acquire if they want a nineteenth century coin, but do not want to pay for a scarce date. This coin, along with the 1892, are the most common Barber half dollars in high grade within the nineteenth century The surfaces of this coin are wonderful and satiny with an olive and navy undertone to them. I see very little reason why this coin is in an MS63 and not in an MS64 holder. Indeed, I believe it to be an undergraded MS64. $1,275.00

9) 1957-D Franklin Half Dollar PCGS MS65 OGH

image

This may not be the typical coin and grade for my site, but I like to think the visual impact of the coin makes up for anything else. The obverse is the typical steely color that US Mint Set Franklin half dollars of this date develop while the reverse is a kaleidoscope of violet, pink and lime. This is a cool coin. $275.00
