GROUP UNOPENED BID-TO-BREAK: STATUS UPDATE - ALL PACKS/BOXES SHIPPED BY BBCE - PLS POST YOUR RIP RES

PLEASE READ:

SPOKE TO STEVE TODAY. HE SAID ALL PACKS AND BOXES HAE BEEN SHIPPED OUT. Hope everyone gets great cards and/or
pristine packs/boxes!

Post your results to this thread please!

======================================================================================
Got an email from Steve yesterday saying that he had received the wax boxes from Memory Lane. So packs should start being shipped
from BBCE. Please post pictures in this thread if you are ripping any of them.

======================================================================================

Just wanted to get everyone a status update. A wire transfer was sent to Memory Lane today, and as soon as they confirm receipt
on their side the wax boxes are to be shipped directly to BBCE. Best guess is that Steve should have them sometime late next week.

I'll post another update once Steve tells me he has them in hand.

========================================================================================
As per the postings in this thread, everyone now shows as PAID. I will contact Steve today to make sure he shows this in his records and
then we'll get the MLI bill paid and the boxes will be on the way to BBCE.

Thanks everyone for being so prompt on this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL PAYMENTS ARE TO BE MADE TO BBCE. PAYMENTS ARE DUE ASAP BUT NO LATER THAN THIS FRIDAY (MAY 16, 2014), AS WE MUST
PAY MEMORY LANE BEFORE THEY SHIP THE BOXES TO BBCE (so it will take a little longer than usual to receive your packs/boxes since
they are not starting out at BBCE).

IF YOU WANT INDIVIDUAL PACKS SHRINK-WRAPPED PLEASE CONTACT BBCE TO REQUEST IT. INDIVIDUAL PACKS WILL NOT BE SHRINK-
WRAPPED UNLESS YOU REQUEST IT.

The table below shows the sub- total for your packs/boxes.

If you do not want insurance and are paying by a means that does not cause BBCE to incur a fee then you just pay the sub-total amount.

If you want insurance then add the OPTIONAL INSURANCE amount to your sub-total. Insurance is optional (you don’t have to take it, but if
you don’t, you assume all risks).

If you are paying by PP (non-gift) or credit card please add the 2.5% fee to your total.

Anyone can pay through paypal using account bbcexchange@sprintmail.com or can call at 800-598-8656 to use a credit card.

Your sub-total is based on the sum of the number of itemsyou requested multiplied by the unit cost of the items based on our successful bid
including AH buyers premium (unit costs are $70.34 for packs and $2,658.57 for boxes)

PLUS your share of shipping/insurance from the auction house ($0.222222/pack)

PLUS 5% BBCE service charge (5% of the product cost + AH buyers premium)

PLUS BBCE shipping

PLUS any options (insurance, 2.5% PP/credit card payment cost)

PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CU USER NAME WHEN PAYING. ALSO PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD WHEN YOU HAVE PAID AND I WILL
MARK YOU OFF THE LIST.

REMEMBER, WE MUST PAY MEMORY LANE IN FULL BEFORE THEY SHIP THE BOXES,SO IT IS CRUCIAL THAT EVERYONE PAY PROMPTLY. IF YOU HAVE
SOMETHING THAT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM PAYING BEFORE THE DEADLINE PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA PM TO SEE WHAT WE CAN ARRANGE. ANYONE
WHO MISSES THE DEADLINE IS SUBJECT TO HAVING THEIR ORDER CANCELLED IN FAVOR OF AN ALTERNATE REQUEST THAT COULD NOT BE FILLED
IN THE 2ND CHANCE REQUEST PERIOD.

NOTE: FORMATTING WHEN POSTED WAS REMOVING THE TABS BETWEEN COLUMNS SO I SIMPLIFIED THIS A LITTLE TO MAKE IT MORE UNDERSTANDABLE. Your
cost without insurance and processing fees is BEFORE the '+' sign. The first column to the right of the '+' sign is the extra insurance cost. The final column is
the cost if paying by cc or PP (non-gift). Add the last 2 columns as fits your individual situation.

These last 8 requests were 2nd chance requests from people who did not already have packs requested. These requests were given
priority over additional requests from anyone who already had packs. Anyone who already had packs that did not get their 2nd chance
request honored will be eligible to take the place of anyone who does not pay their bill by the deadline (without making prior arrangements
with me). Such replacements, if any, will be done based on the order of receipt of the unfulfilled 2nd chance requests.

======================================================================================================

I am pleased to report that our efforts were NOT in vain! We won the lot of five (5) 1975 Topps Mini Wax Boxes!
Our reservation requests cover 72 individual packs and 3 full boxes.

While I am perfectly happy to take the full wax box I reserved, in the interests of trying to enable participation by
as many as possible, I am willing to make packs from the box I reserved available if we can get it fully allocated
Priority will be given to anyone who does not already have a request for 1975 mini packs (and I will take up to 8
myself if at least 28 are requested). Limit of 4 per person. Hopefully this gives anyone who missed out on this
lot a 2nd chance. Deadline is midnight tonight (so I can get the individual cost sub-totals published by Monday
morning. POST REQUESTS IN THIS THREADS ASAP IF YOU WANT TO GET IN ON THE 2ND CHANCE OPPORTUNITY.

REMEMBER, PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE TO BBCE. I NEED TO CONFIRM THE ASSOCIATED COSTS (e.g. shipping, etc.)
SO PLEASE WAIT UNTIL I ANNOUNCE TIME TO PAY BEFORE SENDING PAYMENTS TO BBCE.

Lastly, as promised here are the bids that the bid development team came up with. I would ask Tim and or Mike to
post an independent message in this thread to confirm that I have published them correctly.

If you want to discuss these I would ask that it be done in a separate thread so that this one can stay focused on tracking the requests and the
payment status for everyone.

BREAK OVERVIEW

THIS BREAK IS DIFFERENT FROM PAST BOARD BREAKS IN TWO SIGNIFICANT WAYS:

- THE PRODUCT WE ARE HOPING TO BREAK IS BEING BID ON IN A PUBLIC AUCTION. IF WE SUBMIT SUCCESSFUL BIDS THEN THE

BREAK WILL BE DONE FOLLOWING THE REQUESTS THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED FOR ANY PRODUCT WE ARE SUCCESSFUL IN WINNING.

ONLY PRODUCTS THAT WE ARE THE HIGH BIDDER FOR WILL BE "BROKEN". ALL OTHER REQUESTS WILL BE CANCELLED.

- PRICING OF PRODUCT WILL NOT BE KNOWN UNTIL WE ARE IDENTFIED AS THE WINNING BIDDER. A BID PREP COMMITTEE,

CONSISTING OF KNOWLEDGEABLE AND TRUSTED MEMBERS OF THE CU FORUM, HAS DEVELOPED MAXIMUM BIDS FOR EACH LOT WE ARE

HOPING TO OBTAIN ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP. THOSE MAXIMUMS (WHICH WILL INCLUDE ANY BUYERS PREMIUM) WILL BE KEPT

CONFIDENTIAL WITHIN THE BID PREP TEAM UNTIL AFTER THE AUCTION CONCLUDES IN HOPES OF PREVENTING POTENTIAL

COMPETITORS FROM BECOMING AWARE OF OUR BID LIMITS. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT CONDITIONAL REQUESTS (I.E. UP TO A CERTAIN

PRICE). IF YOU MAKE A REQUEST YOU ARE "IN" AT THE UNIT PRICE THAT WILL BE DERIVED FROM THE SUCCESSFUL BID.

BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS EFFORT (BY PLACING A REQUEST FOR ANY OF THE PRODUCT LISTED BELOW) YOU ARE AGREEING THAT YOU

APPROVE THE APPOINTMENT OF THE BID PREP TEAM AND ACCEPT THE BIDS THEY ESTABLISH AS BEING MADE ON YOUR BEHALF AS A

PARTICIPANT IN THIS EFFORT. IF YOU HAVE REQUESTED PRODUCT UNITS FROM A LOT THAT IS WON BY OUR GROUP, YOU AGREE TO

PURCHASE THE PRODUCT YOU HAVE REQUESTED BASED ON THE COSTS RESULTING FROM OUR SUCCESSFUL BID. THIS INCLUDES BOTH THE

PRODUCT UNIT PRICES RELATIVE TO THE SUCCESSFUL BIDS AND ANY RELATED COSTS (E.G. SHIPPING, INSURANCE, ETC.).

BBCE ADMINISTRATION

BBCE HAS AGREED TO ADMINISTER THIS BREAK FOR ANY LOT WE ARE SUCCESSFUL IN WINNING. THEY WILL RECEIVE THE MATERIAL DIRECTLY

FROM THE AUCTION HOUSE, RANDOMLY DISTRIBUTE THE CONTENTS, COLLECT PAYMENTS AND SHIP THE PRODUCT TO YOU. IT WILL BE AS CLOSE

TO WHAT WE HAVE DONE IN PAST BOARD BREAKS AS POSSIBLE. BBCE WILL BE CHARGING A 5% FEE FOR THEIR EFFORTS WHICH WILL BE ADDED

TO EACH WINNERS COSTS.

BREAK RULES

1) All requests are first-come-first-served based on posting sequence in the reservation thread.

2) For the first 48 Hours after this thread goes live (approximately 9PM Tuesday 4/29/2014) each member is limited to requesting

up to 2 packs per product and 1 vending box per product. After 48 hours passes you may request up to 2 more packs per product and

1 more vending box per product. OVER LIMIT REQUESTS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REDUCED TO MEET THE LIMITS DESCRIBED HERE.

3) After a full 96 hours has passed it is open game for anyone. Requests for full boxes (wax, cello and rack products) will

also be accepted after the first 96 hours have passed. You may only request 1 full box per product for the first 48 hours after

the first 96 hour threshold has passed. After that 48 hour period (after 144 hours have passed in total since the original posting

of this thread) you may request 1 additional full box per product per userid.

4) We hope to wait until we fully "subscribe" the full content of an auction bidding lot before we will begin bidding on it. However,

we reserve the right to start bidding on a lot on behalf of the group at any time.

5) Please reply to this thread with your pack/box requests, and don't PM me. All requests MUST be publically viewable in order

to be valid, and will be listed in the order received. No requests posted prior to 9PM Tuesday April 29, 2014 will be valid.

From time-to-time I will update the thread to collate requests into the reservation slots below.

CLARIFICATION ADDED 10:00PM 4/29 - If you request a 1977 Topps BB Vending box and do not specify from sealed case (or from lot) then
I will try to fill the sealed case first (i.e. your request will get assigned a slot for the boxes in the sealed case if slots are available).

NOTES:

- All pack requests submitted in the first 96 hours will be given priority over full box requests. This means that if the

total number of packs requested for a product in the first 96 hours results in there being less than a full box remaining

available for that product then there will be no full boxes of available for that product. Given the high level of expressions

of interest in this effort, those who are interested in full boxes should not set their expectations too high. It is unlikely that

there will be many (if any) full boxes available.

- As for my own interest in full boxes, since I am originating and managing the thread I do not want to have anyone concerned that

there might be some sort of unfair advantage for me if I submit any full box (wax, cello or rack) requests. Therefore, to eliminate

any possibility of such concerns, any and all of my full box requests for any product will be assigned a slot randomly based on the

total number of unique userids making pack requests for that product in the first 96 hours divided by the total number of unique userids

requesting a full box for that product in the first 48 hours that full box requests are available. If the result of that divides

evenly then my request will be assigned to the first slot. If the result of that division has a remainder of 1 then my request will

be assigned to the second slot. Remainder of 2 = third slot and so on. All other full box requests will be sequenced based on their

posting order in the thread (augmented only by where my own full box request, if any, gets placed). So if there are 40 userids that

requested 1979 rack packs in the first 96 hours and 7 userids that requested a full 1979 rack box during the first 48 hours of box

requests then if I made a 1979 full rack box request it would be placed in the 6th full box request slot for 1979 rack boxes.

SHIPPING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION

*****PLEASE NOTE NEW POSTAGE RATES*****

These rates were taken from the last group rip as posted by Mark earliert this year, and are expected to be the same unless we are

advised differently by BBCE.

SHIPPING IS EXACT POSTAGE

Anyone purchasing (10) packs or less will have their order shipped via USPS. (Rack packs equal three packs).

All USPS orders will be calculated at a flat rate of $6.

Insurance: Insurance is provided for the first $100. Additional insurance may be purchased at a rate of $1 per $100 of insurance.

Insurance is optional (you don’t have to take it, but if you don’t, you assume all risks).

Anyone purchasing (11) packs or more will have their order shipped via UPS.

All UPS orders will be calculated at $10, up to the first box (36 packs) plus $1 per $100 of insurance.

Each additional box will be $2, plus applicable insurance charges.

Insurance: Insurance is provided for the first $100. Additional insurance may be purchased at a rate of $1 per $100 of insurance.

Insurance is optional (you don’t have to take it, but if you don’t, you assume all risks).

Anyone can pay through paypal using account bbcexchange@sprintmail.com or can call at 800-598-8656 to use a credit card.

PLEASE DO NOT BEGIN MAKING PAYMENTS UNTIL I POST TOTALS BY CU USERID. Totals will be based on the sum of the number of items

requested x the unit price based on the amount of our successful bid (including buyer's premium) + share of shipping/insurance from

the auction house + 5% BBCE service charge. To this amount you will need to add the shipping charges (from BBCE to you), any payment-

related charges (e.g. PayPal fees, credit card fees, etc. as BBCE is doing us a favor by administering this effort and should not

be expected to cover such costs). Please be sure and include your CU User Name when paying. Also please post when you have paid and

I will mark you off the list.

If you want to participate please post in this thread with how many packs you want and I will keep track. If we win any lots, you

will need to contact bbce to arrange your payment AFTER I post the total costs for each userid. BBCE will ship from their location

to you directly. After you pay BBCE please post in this thread so that I can track the progress. When paying you MUST include your

"FORUM NAME". They will need that, as there are a lot of different people involved in this rip.

WE HAVE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH PEOPLE NOT PAYING. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESERVE PACKS, PLEASE PAY PROMPTLY ONCE YOU ARE

NOTIFIED OF THE AMOUNT DUE. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES, PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL STEVE AND LET HIM KNOW. IF YOU HAVEN'T PAID

WITHIN 1 WEEK OF POSTING OF THE AMOUNTS OWED BY EACH USER AND IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN WITH STEVE, YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR PACKS.

GOOD LUCK TO OUR GROUP!!!! (We're going to need it).

Just wanted to let you know that under BREAK RULES

    3) Requests for full boxes (wax, cello and rack products) will also be accepted after the first 96 hours have passed.

So if there are any boxes available (not counting vending boxes, of course), you'll need to post after the first 96 hours has passed. image

This is nuts. In the best possible way, of course.

I was actually the guy that organized very first group box purchase many years ago. That was a run of 1980-1989 packs, and was a lot of fun. My how things have grown.

I may have missed it, but can someone post a link to the auction you're following?

Mark will ALWAYS be the king of rips and has done a great job! I only hope that this "new approach" is successful and that
I will live-up to the standard that he has set.
