Home Run or Hideous? (Buff newP - new pics)

With a relatively new baby and new home and newly limited funds, one of my goals to myself was to only pursue pieces I know I would like. Still, the temptation of buying something based on poor seller images in the hopes of knocking it out of the park always remains. How do you think this one will turn out?

Edited to add: My amateur, Iphone images appear below the sellers pics. I had long since given up on doing my own images and now I remember why. If I make it to Baltimore next week I will certainly seek out Todd to have a better job done. Regardless, the pics are a step in the right direction of what the coin actually looks like, although a far from perfect representation. It is in fact a rather handsome piece. And while its not a 65, I still think getting an AU piece with attractive concentric toning for AU money is a home run.

Finally edited: Had a chance for Blu62vette to image this piece recently. What a difference when someone knows how to wield that camera!!

If you didn't pay a significant premium for color, I think you could be pleasantly surprised.

Hard to tell much from your images but as the 18-P is a common date I'd prefer finding a example that wasn't streaky on either side.

The reverse has some nice potential for color, but the streaking toning might prove to be distracting.

The picture isn't all that good but, yeah, the reverse looks like it might have some rainbow. In fact, it is very possible there is also some rainbow (or at least some toning) behind the Indian's feathers from 8 to 10 o'clock....possibly. ???

Good luck and if you keep it see if you can take a nicer photo and share!

In Buffalo Nickel World, I think that might be a promising omen.

You did not indicate the current grade (?), but the coin definitely has potential as a toner. I'd crack it out and submit it. You can't win unles you try.

Before baked-on color, I'd guess cleaning and stored where color was picked up naturally.

Cool wood graining and I would bet the colors will be har to capture as they will change by angle. I have a couple like this and one is very nice and the other not so much.
