ANA - Atlanta - Heritage Auction - Barber Errors Listings

I have decided to place my two major Barber errors up for auction, at Heritage's next auction
in Atlanta for the Spring ANA show, February 27 to March 2nd

The coins have been listed and I am expecting lot numbers being assigned shortly.

They are listed in Mike Byers World's Greatest Mint Errors
" A Guide to the Most Spectacular Major Mint Error Coins"
Copyright 2009.

The coins are listed on page 46 and 47.

A link to the current lot descriptions are attached:

Both coins are Unique - the Quarter is Unique for the entire Barber Quarter Series and
the Dime is Unique for the date [ 1895-O ] which just happens to be The key date
of the Dime series [ as the 1894-S should be considered a N/C.]

    Awesome coins!

I can't say Chas Barber's version of Miss Liberty got any better looking her image is reversed in the brockage.

Having seen both in hand the Heritage non slab close-up photos really suck as they aren't doing either error justice image

So, the yuk photos are kind of expected from Heritage, nothing new there but why are the lot descriptions INCOMPLETE? Why no mention of them in the Mike Byers book? Doesn't Heritage want these things to sell for as much as possible so they can make more money?...they should work on their Marketing/Lot Descriptions.

These two coins were ( and still are ) two of the most
interesting Barber coins I have ever seen, let alone owned.

Both are Unique in their own right, the Quarter for the
entire series, and the Dime is for the Date ( the key date
of the series. ) The only thing cooler in the way of Dimes
would be an off center 94-S Dime.

The auction is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 27.
The Platinum Night auction starts at 6:00. Hope to see you there,
I will be there, so, stop by and say hi if you are around.

I remember seeing that dime for sale at one point, a few years back. The older pics were better in my opinion. I couldn't afford it at the time or I would have tried. Maybe I'll take a stab at it this time around.

    To The Top....

Need to keep this on everyone's mind...
these rarities do not come around all that
often... Remember, the Dime is Unique for
    the date.

The Quarter is Unique for the entire Quarter Series.

Internet bidding ends in a week, and the live auction
starts at 6:00 PM .... See you there !!

It's officially Wednesday on the East Coast, and I'm all packed
and raring to go to Atlanta - but I thought I'd bump this Thread
    last time before I leave.

The auction is again at the evening session which starts at 6:00 PM.
Your guess is as good as mine when these two errors will cross
    the block.

It's been a whole lot of fun owning these incredible coins and I
originally purchased them with the funds derived from the sale
    of my last Barber collections.

The bidding seems to have slowed to a snail's pace, but that seems
to be the standard operating mode for any auction.

Well, I hope to see a good crowd on the Bourse Floor and at
    the auction itself.

As they say, bid early and often !! 😉

    Mike,

How did they do in relation to what you expected?

I don't know prices on this type stuff, but I remember you paid strong for the 95-o piece

I wanted to go to this ANA only because it was closer than the next few. Problem was , my son who is in school in FL, is on the way in as I type this and i didn't want to miss him as he only comes up couple times a year.

There was nothing I was really looking for that I cant chase at Balt. I threw in a couple of cut bids in tonights auction, but didn't win any which is fine with me.

Walt wont sell me the coin I want of his , so Ill just have to wait for gene gardners example?

I was watching these as a benchmark on whether or not HA would get my error collection or not...

Having seen both of these in hand HA's images poorly represented both coins.

With S/B's new website being unnavigable they are now also out of the realm of possibilities.

I now feel it's in my best interest as I wanted to sell them in 2014 to do it on my own.

I am getting the dime back as I refused to let it go at 16K. My protection bid was $17K. I now have the privilege
of paying close to $3K to get my own coin back. Because I couldn't afford to protect both, I let the Quarter fly at $13K.

If I loose any more on selling - I am stopping buying out of my field of expertise. I can't afford to loose another $10K.
