Glendale Coin Club 1959-2014 55th Anniversary Medals by Daniel Carr - in Copper & Silver (ALL OR

March 2014 is the 55th anniversary of the Glendale Coin Club. For that anniversary, our club has decided to have medals struck for our members. Because of the support this forum gives to our club each October when we sell our gold/silver coin raffle tickets, we have decided to invite forum members to purchase medals too if they are interested.
We have commissioned Daniel Carr to strike our medals and he has prepared images of our design which are posted below. The medals will be 39mm in diameter and we think the design came out really great. Can’t wait to see these in hand!! The obverse features the design from the 1925-S California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Half Dollar which will be the size of an actual half dollar surrounded by our club name in incused lettering inside a sunken ring. The reverse design has the 55/55 in the style of the 1955 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent as well as the dual date 1959-2014 for our club’s anniversary.

We are selling our club medals on a pre-order basis only so that all can be made in a single run. On or about February 15, we will send in our final count of medals to be struck and we hope to have delivery by early to mid-March. After that run, we will instruct Mr. Carr to cancel our 55/55 reverse die and no more of these medals will be produced. We expect the total mintage of each metal composition to be under 300, but we've never done this before so can't be certain how many will order. Please note that our club may use the obverse design with the bear in the future on a different issue. After mid-February, we will take no additional orders and you will have to rely on the secondary market if you wish to obtain one of these medals.
The prices of the medals are as follows (please note we reserve the right to change prices/cancel pre-orders if bullion prices change dramatically by mid-February):
39mm Copper Medal = $15 shipped
39mm Silver .999 One Ounce Medal ("ONE TROY OZ. 999 SILVER" marked on edge) = $40 shipped
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to order.
Thanks again!
***4/2/14 UPDATE***
The medals have all been delivered and are going to be shipped out by the end of this week. They came out much better than I had hoped and are just beautiful. Everyone will be very happy with them I am sure. I will be contacting each of you who ordered individually when I ship yours out. Thanks again for your support and hope you all enjoy.
I took a quick photo of a couple of them this morning before heading out to work (much nicer in hand):

Daniel Carr has updated his website with the final mintages of the medals and I have included a screenshot of the information below. We have instructed him to cancel/destroy our 55/55 reverse die and no more of this medal will be minted.

As you can see, we also had a few of the medals struck in pure gold as requested by a few of our club members. Because of the size of the die, they had to be 50 grams of gold, slightly over 1.6 troy ounces. They came out really really pretty!

<< <i>Apparently there is an obverse design match by Daniel Carr of that 1925-S commem repro offered by Carr's refining partner, David Emslie who runs "Prospector's Gold And Gems" in their co-created 2014 1/10th oz. gold piece, albeit with the kneeling prospector reversed in orientation and a bit of added graphic imagery. Could be a nice pairing with the GCC medal. Also makes me think that Carr will be issuing an overstruck repro of the Cal. Diamond Jubilee commem with perhaps a D mintmark. >>
Pretty neat that their fractional pieces for 2014 have a similar obverse to that of the California commemorative half dollar. Our club came up with the general design idea for these medals and approached Mr. Carr with that overall idea of using the bear from the CA half and the 55/55 on the reverse, but he put it all together for us and made up the images in my first post. I haven't heard anything from him about maybe using the design elsewhere or about maybe doing CA commemorative overstrikes.
Anyways, thanks again to those who placed orders so far. Looking like the final day we'll take orders is going to be Friday, February 14, 2014.
The perfect Valentine's gift

They are currently in production. Our order was not completed by our 55th anniversary meeting which was on Friday as we had hoped, but we have been told they will be finished in a couple of weeks. I apologize for the delay but we will send them out to those who ordered as soon as we get them in hand.
We don't have a final mintage count as Dan Carr indicated to us that he intends to strike a few for his personal collection... but we expect the final mintage of these to be just under 300 medals in copper and just under 200 medals in silver.
Will update again when I have more information. Please let me know if you have any questions.

<< <i>Copper looks amazing. Knew I should have ordered one. >>
I know some of our club members and some of the forum members here ordered multiples and plan offer some for resale... might still be able to get one, though it's likely to cost more than we were selling them for.
All orders have now been shipped out. Thanks again and hope everyone enjoys them
