That is a major drop. No doubt is was bigger due to the excessive delay in shipping the sets.
Another failure in fulfillment for the Mint. I believe the counter is only for the benefit of the flippers.
The month long ordering window is great, however there should be no counter.

    Never mind.

I just opened the Mint Box to look at them.

Quite an interesting contrast in coin finishes.

This is one instance in which the penalty for opening the box is minimal, and the visual reward for opening it is great. Nice coins.

This is the un-audited number so it could go up or down when that number is published. Though probably no by thousands as this preliminary final number changed from the last counter number.

I suppose it won't be until the end of January until we can get an actual "audited" and "confirmed" accounting.

Was the audited number for the 2012 SF sets very different from the final un-audited sales number ?

I know that the number we have been discussing for the 2012 SF Set is 224,981 - but per the 2012 US Mint Annual Report this quote appears (unless by the time the Annual Report was released they were still processing orders?? The date on the Financials included in the report is Dec 3, 2012):

    NEW PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Several limited-edition products were offered this year. The Mint sold an American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set with five one-ounce silver numismatic coins minted in West Point and San Francisco. It sold out within five hours, contributing $30 million in revenue. The American Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Silver Proof Set sold 179,921 units between June 7 and July 5. This product was produced to true demand as orders were taken prior to production, rather than the Mint estimating a production run and then offering the sets for sale.
