Greenies & Hammies (Dr. Seuss revisited)

The detectorists in England have a vocabulary of their own.
Some of the more commonly-bandied terms are "greenies" (verdigrised copper coins) and "hammies" (hammered silver).
They make much of the distinction between hammered and milled silver.
All this "Greenies and Hammies" talk had a familiar ring to it. But I couldn't quite figure out why.
Then I got it. It had to do with the first book my sister learned to read when we were kids.
So I indulged in some primitive photomanipulation, with apologies to the late, great Dr. Seuss, and posted it on the private forums for the Colchester dig group:
Dozens read it, with nary a single "LOL" or comment. I was beginning to despair that I, in my newbieness, had committed a faux pas.
But then "CalJim" replied, and I could see he not only got it, but went one further, with a much wittier post than my original photoplay:
<< <i>Will you dig them in the Rough,
Will you dig when the ground is tough;
Will you dig them in the Rain,
Will you dig them on the Abbey Main;
Will you dig when stubble abound,
Or will you, like me, look for softer ground;
Will you hunt when the fields are rolled,
And will you report your treasure gold;
Will you fill your holes with grace,
Will you leave without a trace;
Will you put your trash in your pouch,
Or will you huck it and try to slouch;
Will you dig in the dark,
Will you notice that Celtic spark;
Will you wash your finds up well,
Will you keep them, or will you sell;
And when you return and tales are told,
Will you post or will you be culled? >>
Brilliant, I say. There's hope for these people yet.

Indeed. But I think those are usually pretty gnarly after being buried.

Just a night or two ago, I dreamt I found an "Una and the Lion" over there.
