Strangest Ike dollar bag find yet; missing clad layers?

FadeToBlackFadeToBlack Posts: 7,847 ✭✭✭✭✭
This thing has apparently had it rough for the slight time it's been around... just like many of the other coins in this bag. However, this one stood out for obvious reasons. Feels light too, and weighs in at 21.04g. Could always be some kind of crazy PMD, which is what I am betting.

Other highlights out of the bag include;

A hologram Ike
Dozens of stickered Ikes.
A nice FEV.
Multiple lowballs ('71 VG10, 72 AG3, '72-D AG3, '73 PO1 candidate, '76 T2 G6)
35 '76 P and D T1's.
A single holed, and plugged (Why?) Ike.
3 Proofs
1 '73-S Silver BS.

    Can you show a pic of the sticker dollars?

    I collect those and have four of them on Ikes.

    PMD looks like some sort of heat source or chemical was used

    I have no idea where to start on the Ike in question, but congrats on the good finds though.

    Not a missing clad layer. Standard weight is 22.68 grams. Each clad layer is one-sixth of the thickness of the strip.

    My best guess is PMD. Perhaps tumbled in some sort of machinery that not only wore it down but also gave it a copper wash.

    Best Ike I have found is the "Friendly Eagle" variety. I can't remember the year off hand and don't feel like digging it out. Call me lazy and you'd be right.
