Cash pickups seem to be the cause of our losing the eBay 20% discount

We have been barely missing our 90% uploaded tracking numbers on eBay since July...losing several HUNDRED dollars in our 20% top rated seller discounts. I always use ebay to print the labels, and we do it EVERY DAY (a real chore) and wondering why we have lost this discount anyway...month after month. Finally, I sat down with all our records..and found that the number of noncompliant listings that ruined our status was exactly equal to the cases where buyers wanted to settle up in cash and have us hand deliver the coins to them at a show we would both be attending to save the shipping cost. We realized that we had to manually mark the items "paid and shipped" or eBay would send them nag notices to pay us. But since we never entered a tracking number (since they were not mailed) all these sales counted as if we had actually mailed them and failed to upload the tracking info! Are we doing something wrong, or is there some glitch that might be costing other sellers a lot of money in lost discounts?

Sounds like you do not have "local pick up" checked. If so then you could have just marked
it as picked up. No mailing necessary.

that is tough to read. it is worth it to just send an empty envelope with tracking to those customer's homes for which you hand deliver items. 1.64 vs 20%. easy math image

the one that nails me is selling too many low dollar items for which the value is not commensurate with the minimum tracking/shipping cost. so i just started sending higher valued items via envlope without tracking to get back some savings, risk goes up but so does reward.

Sounds like if you want the eBay discount you need to tell them it's in the mail.

You can upload your own tracking number to eBay. Get the tracking number from the post office and upload it. Then just throw the tracking number away. Let the buyer know what is going on of course. I think that may work and would cost nothing extra.

I the past you could upload "bogus" numbers to fulfill this requirement also. I've had sellers input random numbers that meant nothing. Don't know if eBay has closed that loophole or not.
