(POLL) Would You Submit More if Shipping TO AND FROM PCGS Were Cheaper?

MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 40,229 ✭✭✭✭✭
Do shipping costs hold anyone back?

They can add $10 - $15 per coin for me.

I'd say yes for right now.

Well with what it costs all together if that were cheaper maybe. I have always sent several submission in together if possible to lesson getting there costs.
Would really like to have the option of having them hold all and return as one. But understand their reluctance to do this having spent some time as a shipping and receiving person.

You can't get much better than free, at least one way by dropping off with PCGS at a show.

I have two big shows 6 months apart. Works for me...most of the time.

I'd submit more frequently if the shipping and handling overhead were cheaper, which would most likely result in my submitting more coins, as well.

Ya Know, It seems that all the auction sites charge for shipping to the winners but not near what PCGS charges
to send your coins back to you. Yea Yea the sites hit you for 5 to 17 percent vig on auctions but their postage is
cheaper and PCGS does make a pretty penny on coins graded I would think. I think that web auctions pay a flat
fee for insurance for their shipments because when I asked Teletrade why not combine auctions rather than each
day's auction getting charged I was told that is the way their insurance covers shipping. HMM ?

yes, anymore I save them up and haul all those sealed, brown. first strike eligible boxes to Baltimore, to submit in person.... Now with the shipping/Postal problems, I'll probably continue to do that. I am just not in that much of a hurry to submit them. In the past. I have always been kind of anxious from the time I leave them at the Post Office, till they log them in, and from the time they ship them, till I get them. I guess that makes me a NO. I am more concerned with security than cost (within reason). But shipping and insurance (both ways) does limit lower value submissions (cheaper to get em on the bay)

I submit... It's hard to say I would submit more. I'm already on my knees.

with 3 annual shows in Baltimore yearly, that works for me to....but not for First Strike cooky labels.image

Lets do a poll to see if the Post Office should rescind their upcoming rate increase, that would make about as much sense as this one or petition APMEX or Provident to lower their s&h fees so that I can get my bullion cheaper.image

Their shipping isn't a whole lot more that it costs me to sent it to them. Their handling fee is what I don't understand. That should be part of the grading fee.

as noted in the first two posts, this is a somewhat imaginary poll.

but I note $10-$15 per coin, forgot to say... total (oops)... does put a crimp on what I'd submit.

Yes. I wish you didn't need to submit a different invoice/shipping fee for every tier that you use. I would sign a waiver to waive the normal turnaround time if it would save me $20-$60 on my submissions. Most of the items that I submit and/or intend to submit are diverse.

This too. At least it is a small flat handling fee and not variable depending on the size of the order or value of the coins.

Yep, I sent 3 identical coins in for grading, two were regrade and one was raw. All 3 were the same coin, same date, same service. Had to pay double shipping. I wrote on both submission forms to ship them back together. They must have gotten a chuckle out of that.

    handling fee:
    1 coin - $8
    2 coins - $4 each
    3 coins - $2.66 each (the bargain)
    4 coins - $2 each

I'd rather see fewer line item charges (a/k/a n o overhead fee), but this is a shipping dream.... who wants relatively cheaper subs shipping for Christmas like me?

On multiple occasions, whenever it has been queried, I have stated that I would submit more coins if the various submission tiers and services could be returned in one package. On one occasion, I had four coins to send to PCGS for grading, but one was an express crossover, one was an express level raw grade, and 2 were $30 level raw grades. Paying three separate shipping charges turned me off to the whole idea and I ended up not submitting any of them.

this is true. this is also discouraging me from putting together a submission.
