It would be fun to do a couple of GTG threads on this coin, so we can compare the results. One based on the picture in the OP, and another based on a picture of the coin after it is dipped.

RYK, have you seen this 1838-C clasic head quarter eagle on the Northeast Num. site? Is $12,500 a fair price?
NGC AU55 First year of issue for the Charlotte Mint and a rare and desirable date in all grades. Coin Values is $16,500. Lowest mintage of the type at just 7,880 pieces. NEN
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko.
Robert... that '41-C is a beauty. Aside from the small pits/ticks on the the Liberty's cheek and in the field in front of her face, it's a picture perfect coin. Here's my '41-C in a PCGS XF-45 OGH:
G'Bully - I agree w/Robert re the classic quarter eagles you asked about. For the price, you can find a much nicer (with a measured dose of patience) '38-C than that.

Somehow, I knew you snagged this one.
Nice Charlotte piece also.

<< <i>That's it. I'm changing HOLD to SOLD. >>
RYK is a shrewd buyer, ain't he? Can't blame him for covering his bets.

I saw the complete set of classic head quarter eagles on the site, and none of the coins appealed to me.
Very nice!

What gives? I don't see it on the website, nor in the Early Bird. Have we entered--dare I say it--The Twilight Zone?
I fell in love with this 1855 misplaced 1 in the denticles and the look of this 1855 Liberty half eagle. Of course I bought it.
Guess the grade?
It is PCGS graded and CAC stickered.

Oops. I misinterpreted John's comment. I thought he was referring to your 1841-C half eagle.

I will go F-15, but it would be easier to grade if I did not have to buy a larget computer screen to see the whole coin at one time.
