Craigslist Newb Trusts me?

I guess I need to trust him back, eh?
--------------

Hello,
Thank you for your prompt response.I like it with the description and all.It is okay with me.And i am quiet comfortable with the price.Though i should have come over and take a look but i am out of town(On my Honey Moon) and i also have less time on the internet. So with every description you gave me, i believe you. Also, its my first time transacting on craiglist,i really dont know how it works but I will be sending you payment right away with a Certified Bank check, apparently the check will carry the payment for the item you are selling and the shipping payment.
The payment will be sent via Fed ex or Ups and a tracking number will be provided to you.And once you receive it,get it cash or deposited inyour account and withdraw the shipping fund which you will have sent to the shipping company via Money gram money transfer. You will also take $50 extra for your running around. I need you to get back to me with .

1..Full Name to issue Check to
2..Full address to mail check to.--NO P.O.Box
3.A working phone #

As soon as i get this, the check will be overnight to you.And the shipper info and tracking number will be sent to you as soon as you receive the check.
*I want you to take the advert of the list so other buyers wont disturb you.

Thanks

Regards

Exactly, we will just go with that foo is your next door neighbor. These silly Nigerian's will never figure out you live right next door.

    Sean got it

thats your average response from the African scammers on many things posted for sale on CL.
they will sometimes send a check for more than the amount and ask for change or they use stolen credit card numbers or bogus MOs that bounce, many ways. but they usually go for the smaller electronic like laptops etc. but they are also dumb too and see the price more than the actual items...

often they will say they are deaf too so you cant call them on the phone

I just got 2-3 of them when I sold my 1952 Schwinn Black Phanton last month on CL... like Im going to send a bike from Hawaii to Africa image
  • Ive seen these scams before too and fkw pretty much described it,

What they do is they send you a bogus check (but it looks pretty legit actually) and then when you deposit it - you think its all good and you send out the stuff. Well eventually your bank WILL figure it out and now you will have to pay your bank back but meanwhile, you've already sent the items out so now you're out of money.

I was curious about these scams before and I let the person send me a check once so I could see what they look like. They look pretty good darn good - that's why Craigslist says to only deal locally which is really the only way to go. I wont even accept paypal from craigslist. A similar email that I have received "a few times actually" was something like - oh, my secretary sent you $200 extra by accident so just keep it for your troubles but please send the item out as soon as you get it" Really, who would let you keep $200 because the check was written out incorrectly. After I received my check (which I tore up just to resist temptation) I wrote back to the person telling them to F off and stuff for there bogus check. Not kidding when I say they never replied.

Guess they do this stuff all the time and if they get you, then they get you - if not, then they just move on to the next person. Happens all the time.

Or... you can go with plan B and send them my address image
  • Think about how much money these guys spend on Fed Ex and the like, and you get an idea how many idiots they get to bite on this.

In fact, one might be tempted to get one of those cell phones with paid minutes, a phony address, and see how much you can get these dirtbags to spend on overnight fees.
