What if Mantle, Ruth, Aaron, et cetera used PEDs?

What if, somehow through DNA, handwritten notes, ~whatever, evidence came out of players like Mantle, Ruth, Aaron, etc. using PEDs? Would their card prices drop?

If not, why should it matter for modern players?

I think 20,000 is far fetched. There's no doubt that at least 186 were trannies and Wilt was in such a hurry, he never checked the plumbing...

    20,000 over 50 years is 400 a year.

    I don't buy it.

Multiple women at the same time...easy to increase the stats that way and I am sure during his era it was not hard to find. "What would you if you had a million dollars? I tell you what I would do: Two chicks at the same time!"

RUTH- In the 1860's-1940's I don't think their was any one to suspect. Many players had to get jobs in the off season, so they wern't going to spend more money and get 2 jobs to keep up the habbit.

Mantle- I believe ped's help you with injuries. He was hurt too often to even consider. On second thought, I think you might have a case. Alcohol did help him cope with the pain, so it did enhance his performance. We have one, Mantle.

Aaron- He never did anything amazing. His stats were constint for 20+ years, I'd have a problem seeing him. Aaron as a person and as a player was always bland, which explains why he never got the press. Aaron was great no doubt about it, but Mantle is more famous with inferrour numbers (Average, Home Runs, ECT.)

With having said this, all professional athlets from the 1860'a to today have done PED's. As it was explained to me, if you ever had a head Ache and took Asprin you took a PED. Getting rid of the Head Ache helped you perform better. Sore Muscle, take asprin. More PED usage.

I guess no one in MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL or Olympic history (in the modern ear) were clean.

PEDs have been in baseball for 130 years

many of the players from the 1950-70 used Greenies (amphetamines) daily before games, ie Mantle, Maris, Mays, Aaron etc. etc.

Read Jim Bouton's "Ball Four" sometime if you dont believe...

Ruth would have used amphetamines or "Red Bulls" if they had the stuff back then, he had advantages too though... he didnt play night games or against blacks or latin players, but thats a bit different obviously.

before Ruth many players did cocaine, ie Cobb, Lajoie, Anson, etc. Coke was very common in the turn of the 20th Century and even in late 19th Century, it was used by many as a "pep" and even given to babies who had toothaches. lots of woman used it daily too, and it was a main ingredient in the first Coca Cola (duh)

cheating has been in baseball since the start.... including scuffing the ball, corked bats, etc.
Pete Rose, Robin Yount etc used corked bats (google images to see)

That is all true, however, amphetamines simply don't have the same beneficial effects on the body, its reaction time, and its muscles. There really isn't even a comparison, steroids and HGH are light years better for the intended purpose.
Are you sure about that five minutes!?

I can see how steroids can turn a 30 HR guy into a 50+ HR guy - to me that is pure cheating and I doubt that anyone in baseball prior to the 1980s used them. Guys from the 1970s and earlier didn't have the bulk on their bodies. I can also see how any kind of energy or mood booster, including those taken in the days of Mays and Aaron, can help you maintain your average and power through the ups and downs of a draining 6 month season. Therefore, I am willing to go easier on the guys who get caught today for THAT TYPE of PED.
