I know many here are interested in photography, this is for you.
I went into Manhattan to the mecca , namely B&H for a free class ( on off camera flash).
One block from Penn station.
Wow.
What a store, and the class was top quality. They had a model, and they showed many different techniques.
And they have everything in the store that exists, and the people there seem to know what they are doing.
by the way they also have great prices. link to B&H event space, their class schedule

Lights? Flash? Lights plus flash?
from what I took away from the class, there is a progression in lighting,
from
the little flash that comes on top of the camera
an add on flash attached to the camera
an add on flash attached and diffused
an add on flash that is bounced
an off camera flash that is triggered by a cord or using the on camera flash (commander mode)
an off camera flash that is softened with a small to very large device like an umbrella to softbox
multiple off camera flashes
gels
there is no end
Lance.
I go there whenever in NY. Such a neat place to shop around and see everything!!
