OT: Christmas Tree On Roof

Um ok, I have an extra Christmas tree down in the basement. I was thinking of putting it on the roof with a plywood chimney (did I spell that right) that I would paint and make out of a sheet of plywood. Along with Santa up there. I would make Santa out of plywood and paint, or buy one of those plastic light inside of it Santas........... (if I go the painting the plywood, I wil position spot light on the figures from the yard.)

My question is I cant seem to find anything online about putting a tree on the roof. No pics, no nothing. I assume it is safe, any thoughts?

First good stiff breeze and it all ends up in your neighbors picture window. Other than that and the holes in your roof from the nails etc. that hold it up there I figure nothing could possibly go wrong here.

I'd contact you insurance agaent first to see what may-may not be covered if something does happen, either to your house or another in the neighborhood.

One of my neighbors has those plastic reindeers in their yard every year. Almost every weekend some kids come around and mount the male on top of the female. Even after so many times of them doing it the neighbor still keeps them out. It always brings a smile to my face when I see them in the morning. Who said Beavis and Butthead humor is dead.

The problem with putting a tree on the roof is, at some point you will have to take it down. We live in Ohio. Either you'll be up there taking it down at the beginning of January when it will likely be below zero and three feet of snow, or you will leave it up there until March or April. Choose wisely! image
