    Some amazing packs indeed!

    The 70 FB W/ Namath (F) & UNITAS (B) is crazy!

    GAI + Mr. Mint = ?

Not sure if all those packs would pass today.

I agree. It would be interesting to know how many of those packs were sent into PSA and how many passed.

Great packs in that auction, the catalog is definitely a keeper.
The auction however, was really flawed- the bidding process wasn't very clear, and a lot of lots closed before all the bids could get in. I figure on the pre '60 baseball alone they left 30-50% on the table.
The packs I've seen from that auction looked good, I think Paul Wright was grading for GAI at the time.

I won 6 packs. I sent all in to PSA with minimum grade requests that equalled the GAI grade. 4 came back crossed, other 2 diid not for min grade. But all were legit packs. And yes the catalogue was a keeper Anthony

The vast majority of GAI graded packs from this era will cross.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • That was an amazing auction, especially the hockey packs. 37 OPC? 61 parkhurst? 65 tall boy. Wow.

56 topps baseball nickel packs you almost never see. Much tougher than 57. Or even 55.

Agreed, '56 nickel is the toughest pack of the run, followed distantly by '58.
I didn't find '55 that tough, due to the Paris, Tenn find. Near impossible without the water damage though.

I remember.Sweet Paks.Would of liked those 59 packs 1st and 7th series.Knowing me though I do not think they would have stood a chance of remaining unopened.

  • It's a shame about the 55 water damage. Imagine what they'd be worth in near mint 7, or nm-mt 8. I think they usually sell for $1,500-1,800 in a vg/ex 4, or ex 5. There would be a lot of excitment opening them with Clemente and Koufax possibilities.

And its a small set, only 210 cards.

51 Bowman is another year you never see.
