New Custom Cards - William Henry Harrison Series

After reading a post on here about a Dick Wantz autographed that was recently purchased on ebay and seeing that he only pitched one inning in his major league career before passing away shortly after his MLB debut, I started some research on other players who have made it to the majors and for one reason or another had an extremely brief MLB career. So for these cards, the player would have to have played less games than days that William Henry Harrison was in office. The players on these cards, like Harrison, achieved their goal and then never had the chance to live their dream for more than 32 days.

Below are the first three. I am working on several others at the moment as well.

  • Larry Yount, 1 game pitched, yet never faced a batter, hurt himself in his warmup pitches and never got back to
the majors, so brother Robin had to carry on the family name.

You may want to fix Wantz' date of birth.

Thanks nam, I changed the date to no longer reflect he was two days old when he took the mound.

Thanks for the other names. Other cards I have in process are Chuck Lindstrom, Kevin Melillo and John Paciorek, older brother of Tom.
  • You sir just made my day. As a kid I loved Eddie Gaedel. Thats is nothing short of awesome.

The Gary Hargis card has a couple of grammatical errors also. should read.....Dave Parker's single and Willie Stargell has two l's in his last name. It's also unclear whether Stargell reached first base after striking out, or something else happened.

All 3 of their cards also has the word Complete missing an E.

Frank Thomas also had a candy bar; the "Big Hurt" bar.

Maybe you can have Bart Zeller in your set. He played 1 inning in 1 game for Cardinals in 1970 - did not get chance to hit. He was still playing ball in MSBL here in Chicago area as late as 2007.

    ps...those look like nice cards.
I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach)

  • I made the Larry Yount from one of the suggestions and will have the Bart Zeller in a day or so.

That's a great concept and excellent execution. Good job! You might check the checklists for the 1977 and 1979 Larry Fritsch cards "One Year Winners" sets to find other candidates.

Thank you for both your kind words and the Fritsch suggestion. I will check them out. I was looking at your site and your cards are amazing.
