I just looked on to 4SC website..

they have 443 pages of 25 of Baseball cards that are PSA 10. If you multiple that out, it's over 11,000 PSA 10 cards for just baseball. I believe that I could start my own card shop with that kind of material. Does this seem out of whack to anyone?

You don't want people to think they get some sort of preferential Grading treatment do you ??? So where are the 55,000-110,000 Psa 9's that should be a part of that equation if one were to use PSA's own claims to average ratio's ?

    Huh??

It COULDN'T be preferential grading image

Maybe they have some sort of special arrangement with Topps so that they get perfect copies of
all issues (and access to the Topps valut for the older stuff) image

They submit for a minimum grade, thus anything that doesn't get the grade they want doesn't get slabbed.

There are over 38K cards on their website. It's not like they don't have anything below PSA 10. And in many cases, what is in their store is what hasn't previously sold in eBay auctions, where PSA 9s would often be dropped to $3 or less apiece (I count 1 PSA 10 on their site at under $7).

If the 8s and 9s proportionally sold better than the 10s did (they're not as willing to lower prices to rock bottom on 10s), you end up with an abundance of 10s left.

From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

And unlike you and I, they don't get charged for it. I wish I could send in all my cards subs with a disclaimer, "Say, Don't slab anything under a MINT 9" and just return the rest to me for No Charge for the Looksee!!!

I gave up on 4sc awhile ago. I found most of the PSA 10 cards that I purchased over the years are over graded. I have since replaced all the over graded cards. They currently have 4 cards I need for one of my registry sets. I refuse to pull the trigger on them...

Mr Puddy, I agree with you. So why don't you try doing the same thing, if bulk is all it takes? Trying sending in about 10,000 cards and see how it works out.

I'm just gonna cut to the chase: Sometimes a business needs to trim the fat and I think that's what they're doing here. All they're doing here is pruning their inventory here even if it cuts into their profits a little. With the volume they have they can afford to snip off a dollar here or there as long as it doesn't hack into their bottom line too much. It makes sense any way you slice it.

I was collecting a specific low pop psa 10 rookie, i absolutely had the market cornered, i sold a couple to fund another hobby venture, they went for market value which was high ($350+), all of a sudden they list like 4 (which were fresh pop, which is more than had been graded in the past 3 years), every card was insanely short. I sold the rest of my collection of this card because I literally felt like the pop report was now tainted with low quality psa 10's, and it put a real distaste in my mouth.

if I had skin in the game, I would also like to take a little off the top of the psa pop report.

Ah, what's it been, a week or two since we've had one of these infamous "four sharp corners gets preferential treatment and/or routinely slips trimmed 1989 Topps Tom Brunanskys past the eyes of the very same professional grader that we all trust for our personal grading needs" threads.

I am disappointed though, we're at nearly 20 posts and not one person who charges $4 to ship a single graded card has chimed in to complain about 4SC's shipping rates.

Mr Puddy, its guaranteed to work. You will get at least 10,000 Psa 10's worth $30 or more apiece. You can then fund the 1965 opc set all psa 9. CAKE right?

They have former graders working for them, just like PSASetguy does/did. Of course they'll have a glut of 10s....they aren't us, so a bunch of junk doesn't get submitted.

This can also backfire on you. I've never submitted that quantity but I have submitted 500 to 1000 at a time on several occasions. The problem is if you do get a bad grader, you get hammered on a lot of cards. It works both ways. I had a 1971 set that I sent in for grading and got hammered. I ended up resubbing a good percentage of them and had about 25% bump to a higher grade. I also submitted a large amount of 1969s from vending and got a ton of 9s and a dozen 10s when I didn't expect to get any 10s. So it's a big risk. If you're a high roller like 4SC, then you just continue to play the odds and it all averages out over time.

I too have gotten a lot more selective with 4SC. When they used to run true auctions with reasonable starting prices
I was happy to bid with them. Now everything starts slightly over average VCP. There are better deals to be had
and its not like we're dealing with major rarities that one needs to be so impulsive

I've tried it with large volumes. They let me submit with min grade and no qualifiers, but there was still a charge for the look if the card doesn't get slabbed. I couldn't
move Roy on that point, despite much effort to do so.
