Rack Pack Experts I need Opinions !!!

Morning,

If somebody could post a link it would be greatly appreciated. These Racks of 1959 Topps Fabian started to appear about a year or two back, have never seen them before in 20+ years of Non Sports collecting. There have been two or three Sellers who have been selling them with their vague disclaimer.
The set is actually basically worthless, you can pick up complete sets in Mint condition for $25-$50 on most days. The subject is not widely collected, a Gay 1950's Hearthrob who disappeared as soon as he was outed. Really !!!
But...But...... it is unopened from the 1950's, Non Sport, which are even rarer for the most part then the Sports stuff. So does this header look like it fits the era: 1959 ? What Topps was using then ? Cellophane compare up to what Topps was doing with Sports in the same time frame ? Size ? Shape ? Ect. ?

Thanks

Neil

    Neil,

I am by no means an expert on this, but here are my thoughts. The large collection I had to sell a few years ago contained a LOT of non-sport unopened from the 50s and 60s. At least one hundred packs. Does not mean it did not exist, but I never saw one of those racks before.

The staples on the header look too new to be 50+ years old.

The cello also looks quite a bit thicker than what I have seen.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Morning,

    Thanks Doug,

Another question I have is, I Know they were using the .29 cent header on Racks in 1962, they are very prominate on Civil War News and other Non Sport racks, but were they selling racks for .29 cents back as far as 1958/59, seems that inflation would have made them a little cheaper in 59 versus 62?

I don't like it , all the pre-1968 racks that I have seen are 3 cello packs bundled into the rack which is not the case here. why would topps use a technique on 1 type of rack in 1958 that they none of the trading companies used until 1968? Even the fake 58 baseball racks that were around many years ago were triple cello racks

I think the seller knows these are bogus hence the claim they are not confirmed rack packs. Seller is leaving himself an out if you try to claim they are bogus.
