Look at my "new" book... History of the U.S. Mint

I saw this yesterday and had to have it... first copyrighted in 1885, this publication is from 1891 I believe.

"History of the United States Mint and American Coinage - Ancient & Modern."
By Mr. George G. Evans.

The book itself is in decent shape with a strong binding still and no tears or damage.
It has wonderful illustrations, interesting stories of inside the mint operations such as smelting, counting and storing.
It's written in a style that is long lost. There are accounts from employees, official letters, and even rumors of how
certain ancients came into the mint's possesion. I spent about an hour just leafing through it last night after work
but am excited to read the entire piece.

The Evans book is interesting and well written. The are quite a few currently for sale at Abebooks for reasonable prices.

That book would be a great read. Congrats on the pickup (I assume you bought it).

So does the book state what coinage is "Ancient" and what coinage is "Modern"?

It would be interesting to see waht Amercian coins the author considered to be "Modern" in 1885.
