Haven't seen toning on a 1921-S like this before... so I picked it up.

Found this on ebay.
Figured I'd take a chance. This date hardly ever comes toned and when it is, the look is never uniform, always splotchy.
I've read that the planchets were prepared differently for this year and mint and that affected the patina, though I'm not sure why.
Thanks for looking and providing feedback.

Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

I've been trying to find one that I like for years but no cigar yet.
The 21 P & D can be found with nice color but the S is elusive.

The one near the nose is most obvious...
Of course, the coin is blown up to the size of a saucer, so I imagine in hand, the spots shouldn't be too distracting.

It is attractively toned, which isn't the norm for any 1921 Morgans. The three spots kill it for me, though. The one in front of the mouth may as well be a flashing red light, even when I shrink the image down. Others might not be as bothered by the spots, and if I didn't have such a bugaboo about them, I'd really like the coin.

My gut feeling is its toning.
