Question about the weight of the Gold piece included in the 1967 Canadian Centenial set...

How much does it weigh and what is it's composition? Thanks for any replies in advance.

Thanks much! I have two of the 1967 sets that have been graded by our host and I have several top pop coins but considering that the graded population of these coins is very low, I feel that most have kept them intact in the mint packaging as were mine for 35 years. I retained the packaging in its entirety as well as the display case the coins came in. They are beautifully one sided toned and was just contemplating on selling them but not sure yet. Thanks again!

I have one that I submitted from two sets I bought for $200 a piece years ago. The $20 Gold piece is said to be counterfeited, and it is best to have them in Plastic if you plan to get best price. Mine is a MS 69image

They tone beautifully and here is a couple photos from my sets as examples.

The gold content was made equal to face value. The Canadian dollar was then pegged as .925 cents US dollar. THat made the $20 worth $18.50 US. Then $18.50/$35 an ounce = .528571 troy ounces.

edit: Just noticed "AG" in the quote. Did you mean "AU"? The weight quoted is for the net gold coin content. The coin itself would weigh an additional .05873 ounces.

Sorry about that,, That was supposed to be AGW. I Must have deleted the "W" when I added the mintage into the post. I went back and corrected it, Thanks for catching that mistake. image
