Please post an "old dog" of a coin for me!

claychaserclaychaser Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭✭
My 16 year old mutt had dental surgery today, and had another 4 teeth pulled. She's down to less than half. I was plenty worried about her recovering from the anesthesia and stress.

Yeah, I know, kind of out there on the fringe of coindom. But please post your old dogs for me!

Here's an old dog - maybe a 13-S T2?

    She's adorable,

11 years ago, Angel Eyes, My 16 year old cat needed a hernia operation,
the vet sat me down and said " you might want to consider" before I broke
in and said "you do what you have to do, and I hope you accept payments"
so he said "write me a prommissary note and bring him in tommorrow", I did
and Angel Eyes was with me until Feb. of 2003, and I'll never reget it, he
    was 19 when he left.

    Enjoy the time.

This is my baby. I've owned this girl since she was sixs weeks old, about the size of a beer can then. My wife and kids saved their money to buy this dog for me on my 50th birthday and was a BIG surprize. This is a mini rat terrier and a very smart dog, I've always wanted one. I will be 60 in November and my little girl will be 10. She is still in good health and a BIG part of our family.

Now this is Beaumont, he watches out for the both of us, he's my big boy. I also have an offspring from the two, but I'll save that for another "dog" post. I love dogs and I have never, ever be without one....Joe

No pix . .but din-din for my two little girls in 5 minutes, then off to the dog park! Just like Doggie Disneyland . . about 40 doggies and just a riot. People come from 35 miles away just to come to this county off-leash dog park.

    The highlight of my day . . . except maybe when I locate a Doily . .

As an adult, I have only had greyhounds, 3 in fact. I adopted them when they were seniors (7 when I got one(lived to age 10), 8 when I got another(lived to age 13) and the other was 13 when I got her(lived to age 14)). Fast old farts! image

Greyhounds are almost like people. Unless I got mine wound up, they never barked, they never jumped on people, the were never yippee ankle biters, they never bit anyone, they did not shed much because of the short hair, they did not slobber all over the place like a lot of medium to larger dogs do, they were great around loud noises and great with kids because of the loud crazy environment that they are born into, they would get their two, two mile walks every day and then sleep for hours after wards....they were PERFECT! On the weekend we took them to a local junior high school football field where dogs were allowed to visit as long as we cleaned up after them...we would let them off the leash and just watch them FLY! Nothing more beautiful than watching greyhounds SPRINT FREE across an open field. Talk about lightning quick...even though they were "seniors" they could run down any other dog there....unless there happened to be a young greyhound visiting. image

Zebu, Maisie and Cassie have all past on a long time ago but boy did I love them! One thing my dogs were not so good with...KITTY CATS! They look too much like rabbits(little furry animals) that they were trained to hunt down and munch on....HA HA HA! image My dogs had the locations memorized of every cat in the neighborhood! One time we had just got home from a walk and a worker was at the house. We told him to squeeze in the door and not to let the friendly pups out. Not two minutes later the idiot swung the door wide open and Zebu escaped...and I went running after her...a half mile through the neighborhood. She had pinned a little black kitty under a car just waiting for it to come out so she could have a fury snack! The neighbor came out and asked what was going on. I just explained that my dog wanted a fury snack. He laughed. I put the leash on her and walked her home. I'm glad I knew where she was going(we saw the cat on the walk just a short while before) otherwise that would have been really scary! That was the only time we ever had a greyhound escape! Once they get out, they're GONE if they want to be.

I miss those dogs. They would sleep on their backs with their long legs in the air...too funny.

He is an oldie, but still going strong at 14 years, and he is not a dog, he is my uncle. He was my grandmother's guardian, and protector of her ranch in his younger days. When she got older and had to move into assisted living he came and became my three daughters guardian. His name is General Douglas MacArthur, for my grandmother's favourite general during WWII:

    image

He is actually one of the better relatives I have. He will literally tear you apart if you mess with my daughters. Other than being hyperprotective of them he is a nice friendly family member.

Here's Bailey (one of our three), back when he was younger and had clear eyes. He's goin' on twelve now and is blind from cataracts. Still gets around OK, though- in fact, I let him out in the yard this afternoon and he squeezed through the gap in the gate, and ended up in the middle of the road. Thank goodness the neighbor's daughter saw him and scooped him up!

I can sympathize with your doggie over the dental surgery, too. She had four teeth pulled today, and I had all ten of my remaining uppers pulled Monday.

I used to have a complete set of predecimal Irish coins, so naturally I had all of these:

Alas, I didn't have a picture of one, though, so I had to borrow that one from John Stafford-Langan's fine site on Irish coins.
