One Heck of a Premium for the GSA Holder

A 78-CC in DMPL may be quite scarce still in the GSA hard pack, but wow!

IMO unless the coin is like a lock upgrade or has spectacular color that price is nuts. 78-CC's in 64DM typically go for somewhere in the low to mid 2K range.

The GSA plastic adds significant value at times. A couple years back I made (at the time 3rd, now pop 7-9) 1885-CC GSA in MS67. At the time a generic NGC MS67 was worth about 8k and a PCGS about 12k. The coin was submitted thinking is was a lock 65 shot 66 so the coin was far from a PQ MS67. I sold the coin to another dealer for $22,600. The coin traded hands several times before landing in the hands of a collector at 30k. This all because of the plastic.
