Ever seen one of these? 1922-D (weak) Lincoln cent with DDR

Has anybody seen this before? Is this a DDR?
Just found this 1922-D (weak D) Lincoln cent. Nice coin all and all but the really interesting find was the doubled reverse.
PLURIBUS is re-cut. The doubling of the letters is rounded and rather high off the background field; not flat and shallow the way a double strike is. Look at the pictures.

I can't find any reference or sale of a 1922 weak D or no D or any 1922 with a DDR, has anybody out there heard of one?

The doubling is due to worn dies -- it is not a doubled die.

So is there really any such thing as a weak D or that just lingo for an unofficial variety of 1922 D?

I believe, that year, the denver mint was stuck with minting a LOT of cents with a single obverse die. Which wore out, and how.

Many of these cents had no trace of mintmark at all. Since philadelphia did not mint cents that year, the 'D'-less cents are the ones that we denote as 'weak-D'.

That's how it was explained to me anyway.
