I don't know why, but I just bought a "lot" of 39 FDI State Quarters

RampageRampage Posts: 9,696 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have not gone through them all, but a coin shop I frequent had them all stuffed in a box on the counter. Been there for two years or so with a $1.00 marked on them. They are all still sealed in the celophane wrapper. So, all unused and fresh. Anyway, I bought the lot of 39 for $23.25. That works out to be less than $0.60 per set.

Anyway, just thought I would share...Now, what to do with these things.

That is correct. I asked the owner of the shop what he wanted for them, and he counted how many were in there, noted there were no silver coins, and noted there were two per set (P and D), and said $23.25 for the lot of them. image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Someday, I sure do hope I get more than .10 a quarter from the 50 2003 sets (that's 500 quarters) I have.

Actually, that is $0.10 per set or $0.05 per quarter. I do see them selling on eBay for more than that. I just don't know how popular these are anymore.

I think the popularity of the coin covers was the possibility of getting a high grade quarter since they were supposed to have been pulled from the first days mintage. You know, fresh dies and all.

Unfortunately, most of what I've seen was just typical circulated coinage.

Weren't these like $14.95 each from the US Mint?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

It's too bad that First striking days and First Issue days never matched up.
Then First slabbings days didn't either.

cool pickup, its what I look for to give the kids in my club.

I was lucky to get my hands on 8 euro&state quarters sets the mint put out.

not sure what retail was but I paid 40 bucks for the 8 of em as a group, he just wanted em gone
