No. I clear that account way too regularly and would rather put a purchase on a credit card than use my balance (unless it's really cheap).

I agree and rarely use PayPal for coin transactions.

Yes paypal works great for coin purchases on the PCGS BST and ebay.

  • I try to have nothing in my Pay Pal account but use it for everything and

my credit card is billed. I like that little bit of a percentage I get in cash

    back from my cc company
  • Definate Yes , i only use paypal for ebay and any money that goes in is spent on bullion and coins almost immediately. It's useful for various forums BST'S as pointed out.

Credit card same as having money in paypal account as far as quickness of payment to seller, plus you have the added security of reversing a credit card charge if things go wrong and paypal protection fails to cover you. Transferring money from a bank account to cover ebay payment takes a few days. Never leave a large sum in your paypal account. Purchase with credit card that is giving you the best rebate.

The price of gold is set by faith, or lack of, in the currency it is priced in.

  • no, i like to be able to control my purchases. You never know what paypal is going to do if a deal goes south...
  • Yeah it's easier to spend it if it's not coming out of my "real" bank account or going onto a "real" credit card.

I only use my Paypal account for small purchases on Ebay. It makes me feel more in touch with the hoi polloi. image

Absolutely, but for only smaller purchases. For purchases above $1k, I use my cc, because of the 1% cash back that is given on purchases with that card.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

    It depends on the coin.

I'll tell you why I feel just the opposite. I generally take money out of my paypal account when I accumulate a nice round number like $5k. I always try to leave a few hundred $ in there for postage and incidentals that I buy on ebay as part of the business. I hate it when I buy a coin and have to clean out my paypal account to pay for it. When the balance goes to zero and I do my daily shipping, paypal debits my bank account for each of the shipping charges. I hate seeing dozens of $2 charges for paypal shipping. But paypal will not let you charge to a credit card until your balance is zero.

Besides, I prefer to pay with a check and save the 2-3%.
