EBAY Collectible Sellers: Partial List Of "Community Voices"

The "Voices" program was a major force in building/guiding
EBAY through its early days.

An estimated 100+ folks were selected to "speak truth to
power" without fear of retribution. Voices were rotated
over the years and MANY folks participated.

The Voices were large and small buyers/sellers who wrote
daily/weekly memos to HQ. The subject matter was wide
and covered all issues that impacted commerce on EBAY.

The Voices were usually pledged to secrecy; forever.

When JD arrived, substantial changes were made to the
selection process used to seat Voices. MANY cheerleaders
became Voices; some were/are pro-EBAY-bloggers and
forumites, and API developers.

Voices get clues as to when certain upgrades/changes
are coming. The clues often come far in advance of public
announcements.

Recently, some IDs were leaked and published by several
reliable sources. I cannot vouch for the fact that all of
the names are Voices, but I know that some are/were.

She/he knows a lot of stuff.

I don't know if she/he has ever been part of Voices.
Voices are usually readers, not posters.

I have always thought - but don't know for sure -
that she/he is a friend/relative of someone who works
at EBAY/PP.

The chances that she/he is compensated seem SLIM.
She/he has denied it.

at what direction EBAY might be headed.

A look at their EBAY activities - blogs, forums, seminars,
API involvement - may give one an idea of what type
of folks EBAY considers to be more than just "noise."
