One of the first 1909 VDB Matte Proofs struck.

In going over some auction catalogs I picked up at the ANA Summer Seminar, I found these two lots from the Stack's 4/21/77 sale. #1147 brought $525 and #1148 brought $700. The striking date for the 1908-S is 3 days before the reported mintage began.

I was bored today and going over some old posts. Just thought I'd revive this one for its coolness factor.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
