Look what walked into the shop today...

A guy brought these in today asking if they might be worth anything.
He said they were both found after a house fire some years ago.
Do you think the 1888 nickel damage could have been caused from heat and maybe being crushed?
It sure looks like it has a broken or jagged edge and is not just a clip...
I ended up buying them for 2 bucks just because I have a candy glass dish full of unique stuff like this.

$2.00? Technically, the remaining Seated Quarter has about $2.00 worth of silver. Those are some beat down coins.

That's kind of what I figured... still, they're interesting.

I had a guy in the shop not long ago asking if I'd like to buy a couple of Gold Krugerrand ounces. After I said "yes", he said " Well there's a bit of a problem".

Curious, I then asked him what sort of problem. He said there was a house fire and the Krugs' were sitting on top of his television and they're now melted into a glob that used to be his television.

I told him I don't buy used televisions. I haven't seen him since image

Who in their right mind would store gold coins on top of their TV? This guy may have been pulling some kind of scam.
