CNBC's Breaking News: "Gold falls on dollar's rise, snaps overnight rally" WTH!?

Okay, I get it. CNBC flashes that headline so I check Kitco and gold is up $3.00 showing a sharp rise of about $10.00 from what looks like overnight lows.

All this while the Dow is set to open 200 pts lower and all the overseas stock markets were down by 2% to 3%. No headline material there, I guess.

The gold action is hardly worth a footnote, other than "gold maintain's it's value in the face of stock market drops". Yeah, there's no bias in these talking heads, none at all.

    i dont always put that much faith in cnbc's stuff all the time. with the uncertainy still there and around the world its tough to call that one. who knows for sure

    CNBC is by far the biggest gold hater IMHO. Let gold drop a little they are screaming!

    I look at Kitco only and even it is a bit off. I cannot imagine punishing myself by listening to the flatulent yappers on the TV.

    It's options expiration day. They are fighting to keep it below 1200.

    As of Friday there were 17,675 calls at the $1200 strike price level, which means they have come down very little. The Gold Cartel always seems to win these major option battles. If they ever lose big, it will signify they are in the deepest of trouble, not that they aren't anyway. It will just make it obvious to professional players.

    Here is my secret - I keep the TV on with the volume "off" until I see Rick Santelli on the screen. Then I turn up the volume until I hear what he has to say. Then I turn the volume back off.

    This has saved me much grief.image
