The coin is an NGC AU-53 (CAC) holder. While I prefer my coins to be in PCGS holders, I am okay with $10's and $20's in NGC holders. It is tempting to try a Secure Plus cross with a minimum grade of 50+.
Man, I can see that thing going down on the table in a high stakes poker game between Adam Cartright and one of the town bad guys over in Virginia City.
This is a coin that almost illustrates what I have been attempting to communicate on this forum for years-
Second Observation-
This is a terrific example for the date and in my view it is surprising that the obverse seems better than the reverse which in the final analysis helps the overal grade of the coin
