What does "DGS" mean?

I have a graded note and it says, "DGS" at the end of the type. What does that mean?

Thanks.

I searched for "DGS" and found only a couple old sales of other notes with "DGS" in the designation.

DGS means dark green seal. That also means there is a light green seal variety in that series.
  • I'm assuming your note is a 1928 or 1934 series Federal reserve note.

Here is a THREAD showing both Light Green Seal (LGS) and Dark Green Seal (DGS) varieties and some related info.

It was a devious plot invented in the late 1920's to confuse paper money collectors. Few people can simply look at their note and say, oh that's a dark green seal, or a light green seal.
