Great Britain Gothic Florin 1873 with Initials

I found this coin in a California coin dealer's "junk box" in the mid 1960's.
It was pretty dirty at the time, and I probably paid 50¢ for it.
I found it again and decided to clean it off with baking soda,
which revealed that someone had scratched letters or initials into the coin.


Obverse: The letters look like "LL", "AND", and "CH".
Reverse: The letters look like "LL" and "CH" on the cross.

But why?

I would suspect a coin of affection,,, A couples initials ,, The word "AND" is prominently scratched on Victoria's face , but on the reverse I can only make out an 'E", might be something else scratched there also

It looks more like a C than a D on the obverse to me. It looks like they tried to do a curved C on the obverse, gave up on that and did a block C on the reverse.
