Young Astronauts medals

I saw a large silver Young Astronauts medal in a nearby dealer's showcase recently and really thought it was attractive. Later, I saw the Coin World article on modern dollars which showed NASA-related coin proposals (very attractive) which had been submitted by Mr. Carr. Since then, I've seen reference to these elsewhere, maybe here, I think. My little brain works very slowly, but it's nearly Spring, and some questions are beginning to form, such as . . . 1. do these medals carry much premium, and 2. since they look so much like Mr. Carr's work, may I assume that they are his work?
